A highly appreciated presidential visit

Guy Parmelin’s visit to EPHJ gave particular resonance to the opening of the trade fair.

In a federal agenda heavily shaped by the G7 Summit in Évian, the President of the Swiss Confederation made a point of coming to Palexpo to meet the players in Switzerland’s high-precision industry. Accompanied by Delphine Bachmann, State Councillor in charge of the Department of Economy, Employment and Energy, he was guided through the aisles of the fair by Alexandre Catton, Director of EPHJ, to meet several exhibitors emblematic of Swiss industrial know-how.

His presence was perceived as an important signal of recognition for a sector facing a more demanding economic environment, marked by a slowdown in certain markets, geopolitical uncertainties and major competitiveness challenges. During his discussions, Guy Parmelin recalled the strategic importance of these companies, often discreet but essential to innovation, employment and the country’s industrial influence.

His visit also took on concrete significance with the possibility mentioned of adapting federal support for the high-precision sector should the economic situation deteriorate. For exhibitors, this message matters: it shows that Bern is listening to the field and remains attentive to the needs of an ecosystem that is one of the deep strengths of the Swiss economy.
